The hubs and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary this past week! Yay!
I only need fillings - NOT a root canal.  YES!!!
My sewing party is tomorrow, and the hubs is taking me fabric shopping tonight :D
My sewing machine is NOT completely dead...just needs a little TLC.
I tried a new cake recipe this week, and it was amazing!!!
We've been getting a lot of rain.  WOOHOO.
I found a new writer I like - and a new series to read from her!
My most happy news, I've been working out all week!  Let's hear it for staying motivated!!!!

Do you have any FFN to share???
Hope you all have a safe and exciting weekend!

Wednesday Dish- Double Stuffed Potatoes

Recently, our mother completed the Family Cookbook.  This was a huge task. As our family grows, so does the amount of family favorites.  I received my copy and decided that since I hadnt made all of these recipes, and it is my family cookbook, I might as well try my hand at making all of them. So, I am sort of on a Julie and Julia project with our family cookbook.  (I havent seen the movie).  I want to make all the recipes. I wont be blogging about all of them, but some of them will appear here on the Wednesday Dish.

The difference between my Grandmother and I, is that I always like to change things.  So, for her double stuffed potatoes (also called twice baked), I started out by cooking the potatoes in a microwave bag.

Scoop out the potato and leave the skin in tact. Then mash the potatoes. I added some butter, a bit of cheddar cheese, and a tiny bit of ranch dressing because I didnt have any chives and wanted some flavor.  Then, just to be different, and because I didnt have much cheddar left, I topped each with half a slice of swiss cheese.  Bake your potatoes until they are warmed again and the cheese is melty.  You will be happy you took the time to make these. And, with microwave potato bags-- it wasnt to hard at all!

What I made monday- Compacts

I have a couple of compact mirrors that I didnt like the image metal plates that were on the outside. So, I have started taking them off (this is the hardest part because they are glued on pretty well.  Then I clean the goo off.

I then cut and mod podged some cute papers on.  I have done some really cute printed pictures (on paper because I didnt want to ruin a real photo) but didnt take pictures of any of those.  Sorry!  After the mod podge dried, I mod podged the top over it.

The end project.  Cute compact mirrors that are custom to how I want them.  Check out my etsy shop because you can get one custom just for you, or for a friend's birthday present!

It's time for another round of FFN! That's right! Fab Friday Newz!

To make this even more exciting, and difficult for you to read (insert big cheesy smile here), Melissa's FFN will be underlined, and Tiffany's FFN will be in italics! :D

All the family left the house!
I've started working out in the mornings!
I realized being a clutz is okay. (She really didn't break that much.  She had a bad week! Everyone has those!!!)
I'm going to get a root canal so my teeth won't hurt anymore. YAY!!!
I cleaned out my drawers and threw away all my pre-preggo fat clothes!
My little man is teething! (is that good or bad news? :O) He has also started saying "momma". (which is great until he cries and says it over and over - insert sad face here )

The new dominos pizza recipe is delicious!!!
I'm having a sewing party at the end of the month! Go crafting with buddies!

The Wednesday Dish!!!

Afternoon Kiddos!

Todays Wednesday dish is : Low Fat Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies!  These are actually pretty good - easy to make - and because of the double chocolate, you don't feel like you're missing anything!  I don't have the recipe card made yet (to follow in an edit) but I have the recipe and pictures for you now! :D

(Also - I apologize to you readers for this not being in the morning.  My little man is teething!!  Poor guy, and poor me!  I feel like I haven't had a good nights sleep in over a week!!!!!)

1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg white
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1/3 c. chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375.  Cream butter and sugars.  Add egg and vanilla and mix well.  Combine dry ingredients, and slowly add in.  Stir in chips last.  Drop on cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes!
Makes about 30 cookies.

-Also : Don't throw away that egg yolk!  I put mine in a tupperware container in the fridge, and tonight I'm making an egg custard!  So *crosses fingers* if that turns out, you know what next wednesday's dish is! ;)

Enjoy!

What I made Monday- Diaper Clutch-- a work in progress

I have a bunch of baby showers coming up in the next couple of months and wanted to start working on some homemade gifts.  The first thing I wanted to try was a diaper clutch.  I have one from Pampers and love it. I misplaced it when I started this project so I eyeballed it and Im not in love with how it turned out. But, here are the pictures anyway.

I cut out strips. I think they turned out to be 9 x 22 or so.  And inside and then an outside.

I cut corners and then used a bowl to round them. I didnt like the round edge so next time, i will leave them straight.

I sewed on some velcro (yay me for not having white velcro!)

I sewed up the sides (inside out) and around the top.  Then I just stuffed it.  Next time I will tweak it!

What I made Monday

GOOOOD MORNING!

Today I made - drum roll please - a crocheted scarf! lol.  This one took NO TIME AT ALL!  I'm so proud.  I've gotten back in the groove of things, and finished this scarf for my stepdaughter in about 3 days, all in all.  It even has pretty butterflies in it!! :D  She loves it, so that's the most important!

Anyone make anything they'd like to share??
