What I made Monday- Diaper Clutch-- a work in progress

I have a bunch of baby showers coming up in the next couple of months and wanted to start working on some homemade gifts.  The first thing I wanted to try was a diaper clutch.  I have one from Pampers and love it. I misplaced it when I started this project so I eyeballed it and Im not in love with how it turned out. But, here are the pictures anyway.

I cut out strips. I think they turned out to be 9 x 22 or so.  And inside and then an outside.

I cut corners and then used a bowl to round them. I didnt like the round edge so next time, i will leave them straight.

 

 

 

I sewed on some velcro (yay me for not having white velcro!)

 

I sewed up the sides (inside out) and around the top.  Then I just stuffed it.  Next time I will tweak it!

Birth Partys are so Fun!

Jesse had a wonderful first birthday!  There was a lot of things to do.  I dont have pictures of everything, but I do have some!  Here is the banner I made.

I didn't get any pictures, but I made Jesse a growth chart. It was my first spray paint project (I used wood) and I think it turned out cute.  I still have to put a protective coat on it.  I also made a tie from a dollar store tie.  I think Im going to wait to give him that for Christmas. :D

Blanket Stitch

My Cousin just found out that they are having a girl! I was really excited to get something together to take to her when we visit her on Halloween.  I found some fabric at Joann's-- It was precut and discounted.  It wasnt that big of a piece, but babies start out small right?  Well, i didnt want to make it a "no-sew" blanket because I didnt want to lose too much of the blanket with the fringe.  So, I found a wonderful tutorial at futuregirl that has very clear and concise step by step pictures.  Here are two of her great close-ups:

My stitches didn't turn out as clean, but it was my first try! I had some hot pink embroidery floss already on hand so this blanket cost me $4 to make. Im excited to see her tomorrow and give it to her!
